Erin Gillies, a grade 7 student from Stroud recently competed at the Skate Canada Central Ontario STARSkate Championships held in Brampton February 14 to 16. Erin competed in the Silver Triathlon event , a 3-program combined event against skaters from across Central Ontario. Erin was 5th going into the last part (freeskate) and had a season's best freeskate which gave her a 3rd place (bronze) final result, missing the Silver medal by less than 3 10ths of a mark. Later that weekend Erin also competed in the Senior Silver Ladies Freeskate where she skated against 13 others from Central Ontario. Again, Erin placed third winning the Bronze medal missing Silver by only 6 10ths of a mark. These results qualified her to compete in the Ontario STARSkate Championships being held in Wellington Ontario (near Belleville) March 15 - 16. Erin, who lives in Stroud and attends Sunnybrae Public School, trains 6 days a week between rinks in Innisfil, Orillia, Bradford and Barrie.
