Groceries taken at No Frills

City police have arrested a 33-year-old Barrie man in connection with a theft at a grocery store last month.

He is charged with theft under $5,000 relating to a Sept. 24 incident at Joe's No Frills, and has a court date later this month in Barrie.

That day a man and a woman were captured on video surveillance selecting groceries, placing them inside a backpack and then putting it on the shoulders of a child.

Store security stopped a man as he was leaving the Wellington Street West grocer and the items were returned – although a man fled on foot, and a woman and child were seen leaving the area in a black Chevrolet car.
